What is Pass Plus?

The PASS PLUS scheme is a further training programme designed to help the newly qualified driver gain invaluable driving experiences in situations not covered by the standard Learner Driver syllabus.

The course has been developed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) in conjunction with the driving instruction industry and with national insurance companies.

Statistics have shown that drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years of passing their test than at any other time during their driving career. This is not because of age but simply because of lack of driving experience. Therefore the more time a person spends driving, the more skills are developed, such as effective observation, hazard perception and judgement of road situations.

The course consists of 6 modules - these are:

  1. Introduction/Town driving.
  2. All weather driving
  3. Out of town driving and rural roads
  4. Night driving
  5. Dual carriageway driving
  6. Motorway driving.
